Has anyone been to the bottom of the Mariana Trench
James Cameron - the Canadian filmmaker, philanthropist, and deep-sea explorer - well known for his movies The Terminator (1984), The Abyss (1989), Titanic (1997), Avatar (2009) and so on.
The dive was made in March 2012, in a 24-foot submersible, called the Deepsea Challenger , designed by him.
The Challenger Deep is the deepest known point in the Earths seabed hydrosphere, with a depth of 10,902 to 10,929 m by direct measurement from deep-diving submersibles, remotely operated vehicles and benthic landers and slightly more by sonar bathymetry.
Challenger Deep takes its name from the H.
Challenger, a 19th century Royal Navy ship that circumnavigated the globe to study the worldu2019s oceans.
On March 23, 1875, some 140 miles southwest of Guam at the far western edge of the Pacific Ocean, Challenger crew did something they would eventually do more than 500 times during their three-and-a-half-year-long expeditionu2013drop a hemp rope weighted with iron sinkers into the water for the purpose of measuring the sea flooru2019s depth.
The outcome: 4,475 fathoms (8,184 m).
The sounding wasnu2019t a record, but it was the first taken in the vicinity of what we now know is home to the deepest spot on Earth, the Mariana Trench.
Its so deep that it can easily fit the whole Mt Everest but still we wont be able to see the top of the mountain above the ocean surface.
,The name u201cChallenger Deepu201d is often used synonymously with Earthu2019s deepest point, but Challenger Deep isnu2019t a sounding or a single spot on the ocean floor.

,The water pressure at the bottom of the trench is a crushing eight tons per square inchu2014or about a thousand times the standard atmospheric pressure at sea level.
Pressure increases with depth.
The first and only time humans descended into the Challenger Deep was more than 50 years ago.
Just imagine taking up the immense pressure, supposingly your submersible vessel fail, your body will get compressed before you get drowned.
Due to such reason you cant find a single vertebrae over there.
Its a completely different world for we humans.
Besides that, there is complete darkness which will freak the hell out of you.
So, it has been rightly said we have discovered the outer space much more than our oceans.
Mariana Trench creatures
The area has been explored and quite a lot of life has been found.

How deep is the Pacific Ocean
Currently the deepest location is Challenger Deep in the Marianas Trench.
Certainly, the region of the world appears to all analysis to the be deepest trench overall but we may yet discover another location - only a decade ago they found location that was within a 1000ft of depth of CD.
How was the Mariana Trench formed
It is a subduction zone, the pacific plate is going under the Mariana Plate.
The stresses of the pacific plate going under another dense plate results in bending down of the mariana plate boundry by the dragging of the mariana plate as the pacific plate disappears under it.
This creates the extraordinarily deep marinaras treach
